As students conclude their teenage years, SCA’s high school department strives to play a integral part in developing the students into the adults they will become. SCA seeks to be distinctively Christian in all that we do while providing the highest available education, activities, and experiences possible. SCA offers a challenging academic program, exciting electives,award- winning fine arts opportunities, and a competitive athletic program.
Academic classes are taught by degreed, certified, caring teachers who challenge the students both intellectually and spiritually. A variety of secular and Christian curriculum is used to provide our teachers and students with the best possible resources, and Biblical values are integrated into all classes. Honor courses are available in math, science, history, and English. Advanced Placement courses are available in Calculus, English Language, English Literature, General Psychology, Environmental Science, and US History. Dual enrollment opportunities at the local community college are available for students who meet established criteria. The high school academic programstresses independence and college readiness. The parent communication tool, RenWeb, allows parents and students to closely monitor student’s grades and assignments.
SCA offers a variety of electives for our students. They may participate in the fine arts department by joining choir, drama, or band. Other elective options include leadership skills, advanced art, guitar, general computer, digital publishing, art, emerging technologies, photography, weight training, and yearbook. Students have the opportunity for educational travel abroad to Europe and the British Isles, with elective academic credit available.
For graduation, students must maintain a 2.0 and are required to have 24 core academic credits. SCA graduates have been accepted into many Christian and secular colleges across the nation and are making a difference in their communities and local churches. In 2015, the senior class received over $2.1 million in college scholarships.
